ITHACA, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey announced Monday that forward Michael Regush has been named the league’s men’s Rookie of the Week.

Regush was at the forefront of the Big Red’s non-league road sweep of Northern Michigan over the weekend, scoring the winning goals in both Friday’s and Saturday’s victories at the Berry Events Center in Marquette, Michigan.

Both of his goals came on the power play off primary assists from Mitch Vanderlaan. The first was a deft redirection off a hard pass toward Regush’s cut to the net from the slot in Friday’s 3-1 triumph. The second was a weakside rebound after the initial chance was saved in Saturday’s 3-2 win.

Regush was the only newcomer in ECAC Hockey with two goals on the weekend, and he managed to do it on his only two shots on goal. He becomes the Big Red’s first winner of an ECAC Hockey weekly award this season.

Cornell returns home this weekend for pivotal ECAC Hockey games against Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. Friday and Princeton at 7 p.m. Saturday.
