Cortland Scores Five Straight Goals To Defeat Framingham St.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Six different players scored goals, and the Cortland men’s hockey team closed the game with five consecutive goals in defeating Framingham St., 6-2, Saturday afternoon during the first day of play at the Frozen Turkey Challenge hosted by the Binghamton Devils. The Red Dragons improved to 2-6 on the season and advanced to face the winner of Nichols vs. Amherst in the title game Sunday afternoon at 3:15.

Freshmen Michael Faliero (West Seneca/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and Alex Storjohann (Anthem, AZ/Kirkland Lake) led Cortland with one goal and one assist each. Senior Tommy Nolan (Mahopac/Connecticut Oilers), junior Andrew Gleason (Vestal/Syracuse Stars) and freshmen Scott Docherty (Oakville, ON/Georgetown Raiders) and Scott Donahue (Commack/Boston Bandits) netted one goal apiece. Senior Andrew McCann (Bowmanville, ON/Wellington Dukes) and junior Mike Crowley (Buffalo/Springfield Blues) collected two assists each, while five others recorded one assist. Senior goalie Drew Weigman (Annapolis, MD/Northern Cyclones) turned aside 16 shots.

Ryan McDonough and Soren Colstrup scored goals for Framingham St. Jake McKinnon, Tom Crotty and John Sheehan each picked up an assist. Goalie Greg Harney made 26 saves.
