POTSDAM, N.Y. – Potsdam scored two first-period goals to overcome an early 1-0 deficit and the Bears defeated visiting Cortland, 3-1, in an ECAC West matchup. The two teams will play again Saturday in Potsdam at 1:30 p.m. – the game time has been moved a half hour earlier for the originally scheduled start.

Cortland (2-9-1, 1-5-1 ECAC West) took a 1-0 lead on junior Maggie Corbett’s (Queensbury/Queensbury H.S.) power-play goal 8:38 into the game. Junior Laura Drew (Andover, MA/Canterbury School) and junior Corey Temple (Troy, MI/Ohio Flames) assisted on the goal.

Potsdam (5-8-1, 3-6-1 ECAC West) tied the game with 7:38 left in the first on a short-handed goal by Izzy Fayerman off an Alison Greene assist. The Bears took the lead on a power-play tally by Greene with 1:25 left in the first, assisted by Jordan Ott and Katie Marsman.

Neither team scored again until Sally Mooney converted on a breakway off a long lead pass from Ott with six minutes left in the game. Natasha Allen also assisted on the goal.

Cortland junior Deanna Meunier (Parsippany, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) and Potsdam’s Alexane Rodrigue each finished with 29 saves as Potsdam held a slight 32-30 advantage in shots on goal.
