ALBANY, NY — Yann Danis’ franchise record fifth shutout of the season came in front of 8,124 fans at Times Union Center, helping the Albany Devils to a 3-0 victory against the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday.
The Devils, who were coming off a 4-3 shootout win at Providence Friday, jumped out to a 2-0 advantage during the first period. Ben Thomson scored his fourth goal of the season at 2:29, following up on a rebound.
Paul Thompson added to the lead, scoring from behind the goal at 13:34.
After a scoreless second period, Mike Sislo put the finishing touches on the win, scoring at 3:27 of the third period. The tally wasn’t considered a power-play goal, but it did come as Hartford’s Brady Skjei stepped out of the box.
Danis’ night included 12 saves in the first, eight in the second and seven in the third. He moved ahead of Jeff Frazee, Keith Kinkaid and Scott Wedgewood, who had four shutouts during the 2008-09, 2013-14 and 2013-14 seasons, respectively.
The game’s attendance was the third-highest in franchise history behind the crowds of 10,218 on Jan. 26, 2013 and 8,194 on Jan. 28, 2012. Both of those games came against the Adirondack Phantoms, who are now the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Albany continued its dominance on home ice, winning for the 17th time at Times Union Center. As the Devils skated off the ice, they ranked first in the AHL for home wins and for points percentage (.771).
Albany improves to 26-12-7-0, while Hartford goes to 24-20-2-0.
