NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Adam Dauda (Kitchener, Ontario) recorded his first career two-goal game with a pair of power-play goals Saturday night as the Colgate men’s ice hockey team fell to the Merrimack Warriors, 4-2, at Lawler Rink.

Dauda extended his point streak to three consecutive games, each game with two points, in the loss. In his previous two games, Dauda had recorded two assists in each game.

John Snodgrass (Eagan, Minnesota) tallied the first two assists of his career on Dauda’s power-play goals in just his second career game.

Jake Kulevich (Marblehead, Massachusetts) picked up his third assist of the season on Dauda’s second goal while Bobby McMann (Wainwright, Alberta) recorded the first assist of his career and second career point.

Bruce Racine (Bethesda, Maryland) made his first career start for the Raiders in their final game of the Merrimack series; making 32 saves on 37 shots.

The Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:35 into the game on Hampus Gustafsson’s third goal of the season. The Raiders turned the puck in the defensive zone and Jace Hennig tapped the puck to Jonathan Lashyn who found Gustafsson in the faceoff circle. Gustafsson roofed the puck past Racine with a slim window.

Colgate tied the game with just 8.4 seconds left in the first period on Dauda’s first goal of the season. Brett Corkey worked the puck from the point to McMann on the left wing where he fired a shot toward Merrimack netminder Drew Vogler. The puck rebounded off Vogler’s pads and deflected off Snodgrass’ skate to Dauda wide open in the slot with and an open weak side of the net.

Merrimack took a 2-1 lead with 7:11 left in the second period on Ethan Spaxman’s first goal of the season. Spaxman went to dump the puck in the corner but it deflected off Brooks and took an unfortunate ricochet into the net.

The Raiders tied the game up once again with 3:01 left in the second period on Dauda’s second power-play goal of the game. Corkey worked the puck from the point to Snodgrass on the right win where he found Kulevich low in the corner. Kulevich fired the puck towards net where Dauda buried it past Vogler on the back door.

Brett Seney scored his first goal of the season for the Warriors with 1:28 left in the second period when he stole the puck on the forecheck and deked past Racine for the goal.

Merrimack added two goals late in the third period to make it 5-2. Tyler Irvine slid the puck through Racine’s five-hole to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead with 4:29 left in the third period before Alfred Larsson one-timed a shot from the back door just over a minute later to make it 5-2.

Head Coach Don Vaughan
“The second period may have been our best period of the year. We didn’t get a bounce; you work for those. They had that one go in off our guy’s shin pad that was going six feet wide and then they got the one that went through the legs in the third period but they won the game in the third period.

“They bottled us up, we couldn’t get out of our own way and we have to tip our hat to them. They were well coached tonight and they deserved to win.”
