Already in possession of the second-best record in the AHL, the Devils improved to 32-13-7-0. The IceCaps lost for the third time in as many outings, going to 23-22-7-3.

Sislo along with Paul Thompson and Matt Lorito each had multiple points. Sislo had a pair of assist to go with his league-leading 26th tally. Thompson produced a goal and an assist and Lorito had two helpers. All three players extended their point streaks: Sislo (eight), Thompson (five) and Lorito (four).

Corbin McPherson and Chris McKelvie also found the back of the net for their first goals of the season.

Danis made 22 saves in the record-breaking victory. He passed Jeff Frazee and Mike McKenna’s winning campaigns between Nov. 21-Dec. 5, 2008 and Mar. 5-19, 2011, respectively. Danis also pulled even with McKenna and Keith Kinkaid for second on the all-time singles season wins’ list with 24.

The Devils gave Danis a nice cushion during the first two periods. McPherson opened the scoring with a point shot at 4:43 of the first period. Thompson followed after Sislo and Lorito forced an offensive-zone turnover at 13:03.

In the second, Thompson started a breakout play which led to Lorito taking a wrister from the top of the right circle. The puck deflected off Sislo and into the upper-left corner at 9:56.

St. John’s, who had won four of the previous five meetings between the two clubs, scored two quick goals in the third to pull within one. Charles Hudon scored at 1:05 and Tim Bozon followed 30 seconds later.

The Devils recaptured their two-goal lead after Sislo created a turnover and hit McKelvie for a breakaway against a pulled goaltender at 19:10.

The IceCaps did score again, but not until there was four seconds remaining on the clock. It was Bozon’s second of the game.
