BINGHAMTON, NY – The American Hockey League announced today that Binghamton Devils defenseman Jacob MacDonald has been named to the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, to be held January 28-29 in Utica, N.Y.
MacDonald, 24, currently leads the Binghamton Devils with 26 points in 32 games played this season. The native of Brighton, Michigan also leads the Devils, and AHL defensemen, in power-play goals (6) and is tied for the team lead in assists (15). MacDonald leads all defensemen in the AHL with 11 goals and his 26 points is good for second overall.
Last season with Albany (AHL), MacDonald led all defensemen on the team with 24 points in just 34 games played after being signed to a PTO from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye. Prior to last season, MacDonald saw time with the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals and one game with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons.
In four years at Cornell University, MacDonald recorded 21 points in 104 games for the Big Red. Before committing to Division I NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey, the 6-foot-0, 208-pound defenseman spent two years with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League.
MacDonald joins Devils forward Bracken Kearns at the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic, who was selected as a playing captain in mid December.
