Devils Sign Two Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

ALBANY, NY – The Albany Devils have signed forward Blake Speers and defenseman Colton White to amateur tryout agreements. The announcement was made by Albany Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

Both players recently finished their third season with Sault Ste. Marie of the OHL. Speers, 19, was selected by New Jersey in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. This past season, Speers served as team captain and registered a team-high 74 points, backed by 26 goals and 48 assists in 68 games. His career OHL totals include 181 points with 69 goals and 112 assists in 187 games. The 5’11”, 185 lb. Sault Ste. Marie, ON native was born on Jan. 2, 1997.

White, 18, was selected by New Jersey in the fourth round, 97th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. He is coming off a career-high 35 points in the OHL, producing nine goals and 26 helpers in 68 games. White, who served as an alternate captain, finished second among Greyhound blueliners in points. During his three seasons, he totaled 62 points with 15 goals and 47 helpers in 192 games. The 6’1”, 185 lb. London, ON native was born on May 3, 1997.
