Elia Scores Two As Beauts Top Pride in NWHL

    BUFFALO, NY – Dani Cameranesi scored one goal and added two assists to lead the Buffalo Beauts to a convincing 4-1 victory over the Boston Pride. The NWHL Saturday afternoon contest was played at KeyBank Rink.

    The Beauts opened up their scoring at 10:16 of the first period with Annika Zalewski (New Hartford, NY) scored to make it 1-0. Taylor Accursi assisted on the goal.

    The Beauts continued to add on to their lead in the second period with Maddie Elia (Lewiston, NY) scoring at 4:11. Cameranesi added an assist.

    Cameranesi added to the Beauts lead just 1:34 later, scoring an unassisted goal to give Buffalo a commanding 3-0 lead.

    The Pride finally hit the scoreboard, beating Beauts netminder, Shannon Szabados, at 6:52 of the second period to cut the Buffalo lead, 3-1.

    In the third period the score remained the same until the 19:07 mark when Elia scored her second goal of the game to clinch the victory for the Beauts and the final score, 4-1. Hayley Scamurra (Williamsville, NY) and Cameranesi assisted on the goal.

    The Beauts outshot the Pride for the game, 47-21. Szabados made 20 saves in goal for the Beauts while Katie Burt stopped 43 of the 47 shots she faced.

    NOTES: The three stars of the game were: 3rd,Zalewski; 2nd, Elia; 1st, Cameranesi…the Beauts next game is Saturday, Feb. 2 in New Jersey against the Metropolitan.
