ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Elmira College men’s ice hockey team placed 16 student-athletes on the inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
To qualify for the UCHC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must maintain a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher during the 2017-18 academic calendar. As a whole, the league recognized 154 skaters from each of the conference’s nine member institutions for their efforts in the classroom.
For the fifth consecutive year, EC has seen 10-or-more players collect academic honors from the conference office. After being named to the ECAC West All-Academic Team a year ago, juniors Charl Pretorius ’19, Mitch Atkins ’19, Brent Lafayette ’19, Chris Moses ’19 and Blake O’Neill ’19 each garnered the award for the second consecutive year.
Freshmen Adam Eby ’21, Ben Fleischman ’21 and Aleksi Ojala ’21, as well as sophomores Kevin DiMagno ’20, Nick Ford’20, Calvin Hughson ’20, Harry Kramer ’20, Anthony Parrucci ’20, Connor Powell ’20, Andrew Pucci ’20, and Patrick Schmelzinger ’20 earned the award for the first time in their respective careers.
