ELMIRA, N.Y. — After earning back-to-back United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) wins against Lebanon Valley over the weekend, the Elmira College women’s ice hockey team held onto its No. 1 national ranking in both the U. S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) and D3hockey.com national polls.

The Soaring Eagles handed visiting Lebanon Valley College a pair of conference losses, 12-0 and 3-0, last weekend. Elmira’s Katie Granato ’19 headlined the two wins with a monstrous nine-point performance that saw the Naperville, Illinois, native score six goals and three assists. With her standout performance, Granato became the 13th player in program history to eclipse the prestigious 100-point club over the weekend.

Elmira will enjoy a few weeks off before its next game, as the Purple and Gold prepare for Panther/Cardinal Classic, hosted by No. 5/5 Middlebury, on Saturday and Sunday, November 24 and 25. The Elmira women open the tournament on November 24 against the host Panthers of Middlebury at 3:00 p.m.

In the USCHO poll, there was some shifting in the rankings in the top and bottom halves. Plattsburgh moved up to No. 2 in the polls after dispatching Norwich, 2-0, in a midweek game on home ice. With the loss, the Cadets of Norwich fell to No. 3.

Hamline, Middlebury Adrian and Wisconsin-River Falls held steady at spots four through seven, respectively. However, keep an eye on Middlebury, who will play its first games of the year this weekend against NESCAC rival Trinity.

With a pair of shutout wins over the weekend, St. Thomas moved up to No. 8 and remained perfect on the year at 6-0-0. However, a pair of wins for Gustavus Adolphus did little to help its case, as the Golden Gusties fell one spot to No. 9 this week. Meanwhile, Wisconsin-Eau Claire held steady at No. 10 after edging in-state rival Wisconsin-Superior, 5-4, in overtime.
