ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Elmira College freshman goaltender Jake Sabourin ’21 was named the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Rookie of the Week, his second consecutive weekly accolade from the league and his fourth of the year.

After allowing a goal on just the third shot he faced, Sabourin settled in and held the Knights scoreless for the remaining 44:28 of the contest to earn a 4-1 victory on Friday night. In total, the product of Catonsville, Maryland, made 22 saves, 10 of which came in the third period. He was also in charge of a defense that held Neumann to 0-for-4 on the power play.

Friday’s victory extended Sabourin’s unbeaten streak to five consecutive games (4-0-1) and improved his record on the year to 5-4-1. Sabourin now paces the Soaring Eagles in both saves (319) and save percentage (.911), while ranking second in goals-against average (2.90).

The EC men will have a 13-day layoff before they return to action on Friday, February 16, with a conference bout against Chatham University. The league tilt is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Frozen Pond Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
