The nationally second-ranked Elmira women’s ice hockey team scored the game’s final seven goals to earn an 8-1 win versus Cortland Sunday afternoon in ECAC West action. The Red Dragons fell to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while the Soaring Eagles improved to 4-0 and 2-0.
Junior Katie Gili (Brooklyn/New Jersey Rockets) netted Cortland’s goal with junior Maggie Corbett (Queensbury/Queensbury H.S.) assisting. Junior goalie Deanna Meunier (Parsippany, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) turned aside 45 shots.
Louisa Lippiatt Durnell led Elmira with two goals and two assists. Ashley Ryan registered one goal and three assists, Ashton Hogan had one goal and two assists, three players each recorded one goal and one assist and Phoebe Piku contributed three assists. Goalie Kelcey Crawford registered 23 saves.
