WILKES-BARRE Pa. — Elmira College women’s ice hockey completed the series sweep of Wilkes University with a 7-0 win on Saturday afternoon. The Soaring Eagles improved to 8-1-0 (8-0-0 UCHC) while the Colonels remain in search of their first win of the year at 0-8-0 (0-8-0 UCHC).
A total of 10 skaters produced points in the win, including seven multi-point scorers.
Morgan Mordini ’22 and Tristen Tolan ’21 finished with two points apiece as both forwards netted goals. Mordini scored back-to-back goals to open the first period, including a power-play goal that went into the scorebook as today’s game-winner. Tolan, on the other hand, scored back-to-back shorthanded goals midway through the third period. Both shorthanded goals came on the same penalty kill.
Devyn Gilman ’21 (1g-1a), Jess Adams ’21 (1g-1a), Claire Meeder ’23 (1g-1a), Mary McCafferty ’22 (0g-2a) and Jenny Heath’22 (0g-2a) produced two points each. Gilman and Adams scored in the second period, while Meeder’s tally was registered early in the third period.
Single-point getter included Emma Crocker ’21, Sydney Harris ’21 and Eliza Beaudin ’22, all of whom logged one assist.
Catherine Champagne ’24 made her first collegiate start between the pipes. The Saint-Colomban, Québec, native made 18 saves in 60 minutes of action. Of her 18 saves, eight were registered in the first period.
