Rochester, NY – Senior forward Brett Everson (Mississauga, Ontario/Hawkesbury (CCHL)) of the Utica College men’s ice hockey team has been selected as the United Collegiate Hockey Conference men’s player of the week. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the UCHC offices in Rochester.

He earns the nod for his performance last Thursday against the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-17 team.

Everson opened his senior season with an electrifying performance in Thursday’s exhibition opener. The fourth-year man for the Pioneers added a goal and two assists in a 6-5 win. He recorded his goal on a power play chance with just over two minutes left in the third period to break a 5-5 tie and lift Utica to victory with the game-winning goal. The win was Utica’s third straight against representatives from the NTDP.

The Pioneers are back in action this weekend as they kick off their 20th regular season with a conference home-and-home series against Wilkes University. The team will be on the road on Friday, and back at the Aud for the home leg of the series on Saturday evening.
