Behind a great game by Scott Hansen, who had two goals and two assists, Jersey Shore defeated Lockport, 6-3.
Hansen found the back of the net 11:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Jersey Shore and again while on the power play 18:37 into the second to make the score 4-1 Jersey Shore.
Lockport’s 13 penalties came back to haunt it, as Lockport let up four goals while on the penalty kill.
Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:31 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.
Jersey Shore was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. Jersey Shore surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Lockport was unable to stop Jersey Shore from sending pucks towards the net, and Jersey Shore eventually piled up 53 shots on goal. Team’s forwards weren’t the only contributers offensively, and the team’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.
Jersey Shore additionally got points from Jared Karas, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Frederic Ampleman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Freddie Schaljo also scored for Jersey Shore. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Shore were Dylan Plsek, who had three and Christian Cooley, Zach Roth, Frederic Villeneuve, Bogdan Khvatov, and Tyler Goclan, who each chipped in one.
Lockport racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and two majors for 52 minutes in penalty time. Lockport had been averaging 29.0 minutes in penalties per game. Lockport kept Jersey Shore’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Breadan Colgan made 31 saves on 34 shots.
Lockport was helped by Christopher Gasiewicz, who had one goal. Gasiewicz scored 5:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jersey Shore. Justin Durkee picked up the assist. Lockport also got points from Durkee, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lockport also got a goal from Jordan Pocobello as well. More assists for Lockport came via Mark Friol, Brendan McFall, and Devin Kasperek, who contributed one each.
Team’s Hansen and Roth were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Tim Schiess rejected 47 shots on goal for Lockport. Lockport registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Lockport, Ryan Logar and Dylan Jenkins were ejected from the contest.
