Fanale and Scannell Named to USA 2022 U18 Team

Webster’s Annabella “Bella” Fanale and Wynantskill’s Maggie Scannell have been selected to play for Team USA on the U18 Team. They will head off to play a three-game series vs Canada this week. For Scannell, this is a repeat performance as she played with the team and took the silver last season in the IIHF U18 series.

The 2022 U.S. Under-18 Women’s Select Team includes six other returners, Annelies Bergman (Detroit, Mich.), Cassie Hall (South Lyon, Mich.), Molly Jordan (Berlin, Conn.), Ava Lindsay (Wayzata, Minn.),  Josie St. Martin (Stillwater, Minn.) and Finley McCarthy (Whitefish, Mont.), from the 2022 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team that took silver at the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship. 

Other team members include: Goalies: Layla Hemp, a goalie from Detroit, Mich; and Danielle Strom, Dayton, Minn.

Defense: Kamdyn Davis, Beloit, Wis.; Rose Dwyer, Wynnewood, Pa.; Gabby Kim, Los Angeles, Ca.; Rosie Klein, Chicago, Il.; Elly Kelpinger, Corcoran, Minn.; Cailin Mumm, Andover, Minn.

Forwards: Lindzi Avar, Chanhassen, Minn.; Peyton Compton, Sanford, Fla.; Lucia DiGirolamo, Woburn, Mass.; Joy Dunne, O’Fallon, Mo.; Alexandra Lalonde, Irvine, Ca.; Grace Sadura, Chanhassen, Minn.; Samatha Taber, Tewksbury, Mass.; and Ava Thomas, Downington, Pa.

Compton, DiGirolamo and McCarthy all come from the Selects Academy at Bishop Kearney in Rochester, New York

“We’re excited to take the first step in building our team for this year,” Katie Lachapelle, head coach of the 2022 U.S. Under-18 Women’s Select Team said. “Our series in Canada is a great way to evaluate, while also getting game action under our belts.” 

Joy Dunne (O’Fallon, Mo.) and Danielle Strom (Dayton, Minn.) were also selected to the Under-18 Women’s Select Team, but will be unable to travel with the squad up to Calgary.
