Hobart College senior forward Ben Gamache and junior defenseman Carl Belizario earned a spot on the D3hokey.com National Team of the Week. Gamache and Belizario led the Statesmen to two impressive wins over SUNYAC Opponents this past weekend.
Gamache recorded a team-high seven points (1g, 6a) in two games last week. He shared team-high point honors in both games. Against then No. #4/8 Geneseo, he tallied three points on one goal and two assists. He set up he Statesmen’s first and fourth goal of the game and then tagged on a goal of his own at the 14:06 mark of the third period. On Saturday, Gamache tied a Hobart game record with four assists. He is the seventh Hobart player to notch four assists in a single game. Gamache now leads the team and the ECAC West with 14 assists on the season. He is also fourth in the nation in assists per game (1.08).
Belizario earned a spot on the team of the week after recording four points on one goal and three assists. Against the Knights, he also notched three points. At 12:18 of the first period, he scored a power-play goal on a rocket from the left point to tie the game at 1-1. His first assist was on Nick Bingaman’s game-winning goal. Belizario added an assist on Brad Robbins’ third period goal. Belizario added an assist in Saturday’s victory over Brockport. He was an impressive +7 on the weekend. With a four-point weekend, Belizario now has seven points (1g, 6a) this season.
No. 3/6 Hobart looks to extend its six-game unbeaten streak this weekend in Oaks Bluff, Mass. The Statesmen will face Curry and Salve Regina in non-conference action in the 2016 Vineyard Classic.
