GENESEO, N.Y.—No. 5/6 Geneseo netted three power-play goals to skate to a 5-2 victory over visiting Buffalo State in tonight’s SUNYAC season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Geneseo opened the scoring with its first of three power-play markers less than five minutes into the game and then extended the lead to 2-0 less than five minutes later.
Buffalo State got on the board with a power-play goal of its own before the end of the opening frame when freshman Reid Bibb (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) tallied his first collegiate goal with assists from Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, QC/OHA) and Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS).
Geneseo extended its advantage with a pair of power-play goals in the second period.
The Bengals were able to get one back in the final five minutes of the third period on a goal by Hugo Petit (Chelsea, QC/CIH Acad.) that was assisted by Marcus Michalski (Woodstock, ON/St. Mary’s Catholic) and Wood, but the Knights would complete the scoring with just 26 seconds remaining.
Geneseo finished with a 35-13 advantage in shots and was 3 for 7 on the power play, compared to 1 for 3 by the Bengals.
Freshman Connor Minch (Manchester, NH/Manchester Central) made 30 saves in his first collegiate start.

Conlan Keenan led the Knights with two goals and an assist.
Tyson Empey and Arthur Gordon also scored.
