Andrew Masters recorded a shutout against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres as the Georgetown Raiders picked up a 4-0 win.
Georgetown pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 42 penalty minutes.
The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Georgetown featured an improved defense during the game. The Raiders allow 2.5 goals per game.
Georgetown was led by Jordan Crocker, who tallied one goal and one assist. Crocker scored on the power play 17:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. A head contact penalty on Tim Nicksic had put the Raiders on the power play. Kyle Allan assisted on the tally. Georgetown also got points from Bailey Molella, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Georgetown also had goals scored by Brendan Jacome and Matthew Cairns, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Andrew Court, who had two and Michael Boushy and Josh Dickinson, who contributed one each.
Buffalo’s offense operated below its season average. The Jr. Sabres average 4.1 goals per game. Buffalo forced Georgetown goalie Masters to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Jr. Sabres’ penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Raiders’ power play unit.
Masters rejected 37 shots on goal for Georgetown. Tucker Weppner made 24 saves for Buffalo on 28 shots. The Jr. Sabres incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
