In June of 2012 tragedy struck the Opladen family with the loss of their son Josh. Josh was an up and coming elite hockey goalie with a very bright future in the game and was very well known and loved by many people. The loss of Josh had a huge impact on the tight nit hockey community of Rochester, NY.
Sadly, on August 3, 2016, Josh’s father Steve Opladen passed away from his battle with ALS. He gave it a great fight and was very thankful to everyone that visited or helped him and his family during his battle.
Steve was one of the most respected, honest, consistent and fair hockey coaches as well as an amazing representative of youth hockey in Rochester, NY. He always had the best of intentions and was a role model for many young athletes.
We believe Steve and his son Josh are reunited in a better place and we would like to provide as much money as possible to his wife Janice and her 3 children in an effort to contribute toward their college educations.
