Buffalo State’s Kara Goodwin (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) and Brooke Krantz (Penticton, BC/Penticton) were named the ECAC West Women’s Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week respectively after helping the Bengals to a pair of home league wins over William Smith last weekend.
Goodwin, a senior public communication major, earned the honor for the second-consecutive week. She tallied five goals and two assists in the pair of victories with two goals and an assist in a 7-4 win on Friday, and then netted three goals and an assist in a 6-1 win on Saturday. Goodwin now ranks second in all of Division III with 20 goals in 17 games this season.
Krantz, a freshman business major, had two goals and an assist in Fridays win, and then dished out three assists in the victory on Saturday. She now has 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists) in 17 games this season.
Buffalo State posted its seventh league win of the season, matching the school record set back in the inaugural season of the ECAC West in 2001-02. The Bengals (9-6-2/7-3-0) will next play at Oswego this Friday at 7 p.m.
