POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey player Jon Hall (Dexter, N.Y./Stouffville Spirit) has been named to the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference first team. Hall is the Bears’ first first-team selection since Connor Treacy ’10 in 2010 and the first Potsdam goalie to receive the honor since Dave Dragone ’97 in 1996.

The junior had the finest season in his three-year career and one of the best for a Bears’ goaltender ever. He went 12-8-2 with a 3.04 goals-against-average. His 12 victories were the most by Bear since Ryan Venturelli ’04 won 14 in 2002-03. Hall also set the program single-season record for save percentage with .919.

Hall had numerous standout moments during the season. He beat three ranked opponents. He stopped 53 shots in Potsdam’s 5-4 win over No. 15 Hobart on Nov. 1. He turned aside 29 shots at No. 4 Geneseo in a 2-1 victory on Nov. 7. Hall finished with 45 saves in the Bears’ 4-2 upset No. 1 Oswego State on Feb. 21 to close out the regular season and clinch a home playoff game. As good has we was in all of those contests, Hall was never better than his 53-save, 1-0 shutout of Geneseo on Jan. 30. There has probably never been a better single game performance by a goalie in a Potsdam jersey. For his consistent dominance, Hall was named the SUNYAC Goalie of the Week six times during the 2014-15 campaign.

In his career, the junior is 16-15-4 with a 3.18 g.a.a. and a .912 save percentage. Hall is already tied for seventh on the program’s career wins list, ninth on the all-time save list (1,167) and has the best save percentage in Potsdam history.

This year, the Bears were 12-11-3 with an 8-6-2 mark in the SUNYAC for the program’s first winning season in 12 years.
