Hamilton College Men’s Hockey Ranked 7th In Final DIII Polls

The Hamilton College men’s hockey team ended the 2016-17 season ranked seventh in both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com Division III Top 15 polls.

The Continentals made an NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championship appearance for the first time in program history and advanced to the quarterfinals after winning 3-1 at SUNY Oswego in the first round. Hamilton finished with an overall record of 20-5-4 after starting the season with a 13-game unbeaten streak (11-0-2). The Continentals’ 20 wins set a team record.

Hamilton finished the regular season in first place in the NESCAC standings with an 11-3-4 conference record. The Continentals hosted the semifinals and final of the NESCAC Men’s Hockey Championship for the first time and played in their first conference final in the 18-year history of the event.

Goaltender Evan Buitenhuis ’18 was selected the NCAA Division III and NESCAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Year, and head coach Rob Haberbusch was voted the NESCAC Men’s Hockey Coach of the Year.
