Hamilton College received an at-large bid on Monday morning and will make its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championship.

The Continentals (19-4-4 overall) will travel to SUNY Oswego for a first round game on Saturday, March 11 at 7 p.m. Oswego (21-5-1) also picked up an at-large bid after the Lakers lost to SUNY Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC championship final on Saturday.

Hamilton finished first in the NESCAC in the regular season conference standings and was the No. 1 seed for the 2017 NESCAC Men’s Hockey Championship. The Continentals reached the final after wins against Bowdoin College and Wesleyan University, but lost 3-2 in overtime against Trinity College in the title game at Russell Sage Rink on Sunday.

Hamilton went 11-0-2 to start the season and was ranked as high as fifth in the D3hockey.com Top 15 poll in January. The Continentals were riding a seven-game win streak prior to Sunday’s conference final. Hamilton was ranked eighth in the most recent D3hockey.com and USCHO.com Division III Top 15 polls, and the Continentals were fifth in the final NCAA East Region rankings.

A block of tickets will be made available to Hamilton College men’s hockey fans later this week. More ticket information will follow after the NCAA championship conference call scheduled for Tuesday morning.
