BINGHAMTON, NY. – Andrew Hammond stopped all but one shot he faced in a 1-0 loss to the visiting Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday night inside the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

The first and second period turned into a battle of goaltending with neither net minder letting in a shot. B-Sens’ goalie Andrew Hammond stopped all 16 shots faced in the first two frames while Alex Lyon refused to let any of the 19 Binghamton shots past.

Lehigh Valley managed to break the goal drought 9:21 into the third period with the only goal of the night courtesy of Colin McDonald. Following a consistent back and forth between the teams, Taylor Leier brought the puck across the ice in front of Hammond before he found McDonald on the left side of the goal. McDonald took an initial shot that was stopped by Hammond, but picked up the rebound and put it behind the goalie’s left skate as he was sprawled on the ice. Corban Knight earned the secondary assist on McDonald’s eighth goal of the year.

Hammond had a total of 24 shots stopped in the losing effort while Lyon earned the shutout with 28 saves.

The B-Sens meet with the Phantoms again on Friday, November 25, at 7:05 p.m. in Lehigh Valley.
