The Hobart College hockey team moved up two spots to No. 9 in the nation in this week’s D3hockey.com poll and moved up one spot to No. 12 in the most recent USCHO.com poll.
The Statesmen are 5-2-1 overall and are back in action this weekend, hosting two non-league games against Skidmore. Hobart will face the Thoroughbreds on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m., and then the two teams will meet again on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m.
Senior Mac Olson (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) leads the Statesmen with seven goals and 11 points. He’s second in the ECAC West in goals and tied for 13th in the nation in goals per game (0.88). Olson is also tied for third in the league in points. Senior Brad Robbins (Murrieta, Calif.) is right behind him with 10 points on five goals and five assists. Senior Ben Gamache (Longlac, Ontario) has dished out a team-high six assists.
Senior goaltender Lino Chimienti (Montreal, Quebec) has played the majority of minutes in goal. He’s sporting a 1.48 goals against average, a .952 save percentage and a 5-0-1 record so far this season. Chimienti sits atop the league in goals against average, save percentage and win percentage. His save percentage ranks fifth in the nation and his goals against average ranks eighth.
Hobart leads the conference in scoring defense with 2.25 goals allowed per game. The Statesmen rank second on the penalty kill (91.9) and third in scoring offense (3.88 g/gm).
Skidmore brings a 2-6-1 record to The Cooler. Marc Cibelli leads the team with 14 points on three goals and 11 assists. Anthony Bird has registered a team-high five goals and added six assists for 11 points. Jack McDonald has played the majority of minutes in goal. He’s sporting a 2.83 goals against average, a .917 save percentage and a 1-4-1 record.
