GENEVA, N.Y. —The Hobart College hockey team will return to intercollegiate competition on Friday, March 11, when it hosts Lebanon Valley at 6 p.m. With a focus on the health and safety of the student-athletes, spectators will not be permitted at The Cooler until further notice. Additional games will be announced as they are confirmed. If it is safe to do so the Statesmen will be permitted to compete through April 3.
Hobart finished the 2019-20 season with a 20-5-3 overall record and were ranked sixth in the final USCHO.com poll of the season. The Statesmen were selected to the NCAA tournament for the sixth straight season and were set to face Adrian in the first round when the tournament was canceled due to the pandemic.
Hobart was ranked among the nation’s best in scoring offense (8th, 4.14 gpg), scoring margin (9th, +1.89 gpg), penalty kill (11th, 87.4%) and scoring defense (13th, 2.25 gpg) last season.
The Dutchmen are 2-0-1 overall this season and are coming off a 1-1 tie with Neumann on March 6. Blake Tosto (2g, 1a), Brad Biola (2g, 1) and Darion Benchich (3a) share the team lead with three points each. Aidan Richardson has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 1-0-1 with a .948 save percentage and a 1.44 goals against average.
