Hobart College senior defenseman Carl Belizario (Dorval, Quebec) and senior goaltender Tim Keegan (Lexington, Mass.) signed with the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals. The Statesmen are expected to be in tonight’s lineup, when the Jackals host the Wheeling Nailers in First Arena at 7:05 p.m.

“Carl and Tim epitomize what you try to do in four years of college hockey – be a successful player and more importantly be a great teammate.” said Hobart Hockey Head Coach Mark Taylor. “When you do those things you get to have opportunities like these and I couldn’t be happier for both of these guys.”

A two-time All-ECAC West first team selection, Belizario was named the ECAC West Defensive Player of the Year this season. He led the Hobart defense that finished its season ranked first in the ECAC West and 16th in the nation in scoring defense allowing an average of 2.38 goals per game. Belizario played in 25 games this winter and posted four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. He tied for seventh in the ECAC West in defenseman scoring.

A 2016 AHCA All-American and D3hockey.com all-region pick, Belizario played in 105 career games. He logged 14 goals and 42 assists for 56 career points. Belizario was also named to the ECAC West All-Rookie Team in 2014.

Keegan played in nine career games for Hobart. He logged a 2.93 career goals against average, a .892 save percentage and a 3-3-1 record. Keegan earned a 6-2 victory in goal at Lebanon Valley this year, finishing with 22 saves. He played in six games as a first-year and logged 152 saves. Keegan made a career-high 35 saves in a 5-1 win over Nazareth in his rookie season.

Keegan and Belizario led the Statesmen to 76 career wins in their four years, the most by a Hobart hockey graduating class. They also guided the Statesmen to three straight ECAC West tournament championships and three straight NCAA tournament appearances.
