Senior Lino Chimienti was named the ECAC West Men’s Hockey Goalie of the Week after leading the Hobart College ice hockey team to a pair of ECAC West wins this week. With the victories, the Statesmen moved back into the D3hockey.com Men’s Top 15 at No. 13.
Senior forward Mac Olson earned a spot on the ECAC West weekly honor roll as well.
Chimienti made a total of 53 saves and allowed just two goals in the Statesmen’s opening ECAC West Weekend. On Friday, in a 6-1 victory over Manhattanville, he made 32 saves in 59:51 in goal. On Saturday, in a 4-1 win over Neumann, Chimienti made 21 saves, playing all 60 minutes. Chimienti is 2-0-1 this year and owns a goals against average of 0.98. He has stopped 81 shots for a save percentage of .964. He leads the conference in both categories.
Olson earned a spot on the honor roll after recording a team-high four points on three goals and two assists on the weekend. Against Manhattanville, he notched two goals and an assist. He scored the game-tying goal in what proved to be a 4-1 win over Neumann. Olson leads Hobart with five points on four goals and an assist this season. He’s second in the ECAC West in goals and tied for third in points.
The Statesmen will be back in action this weekend when they travel to take on Nazareth on Friday and Utica on Saturday. Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m.
