Hobart College seniors Jordan Haskell (Tooele, Utah) and Ben Greiner (Newport Beach, Calif.) signed with the Norfolk Admirals of the East Coast Hockey League today.
“I couldn’t be happier for two more deserving guys,” said Hobart Head Coach Mark Taylor. “Good things happen to committed team players. It’s something we talk about, if the team does well and we get to a certain place – winning championships and getting to the NCAA tournament – that even if we fall short of some of our team goals, good things will happen for individuals.”
A forward and alternate captain, Haskell played in 26 games this season. He logged a career-high 17 points on nine goals and eight assists. Haskell scored twice in wins over Southern Maine and Connecticut College and dished out two assists in a win at New England College. He scored Hobart’s second goal in the NEHC Tournament Championship win at top-seeded Norwich, earning him a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Haskell was named the NEHC’s Player of the Week once this winter.
Haskell played in 91 games in his four years at Hobart. He posted 44 career points on 18 goals and 26 assists. Haskell is a two-time ECAC West All-Academic honoree.
A forward and captain, Greiner played in all 29 games this year. He produced a career-high 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. Greiner tallied a season-high four points on a goal and three assists in a 9-1 victory over Castleton. Greiner recorded the game-winning goals in victories over Castleton and Skidmore.
A transfer from Bowling Green, Greiner played in 57 games at Hobart. He notched 33 points on 13 goals and 20 assists as a Statesman. Greiner was named the 2017 ECAC West Tournament MVP, after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of the championship game.
Haskell and Greiner, along with the rest of the Hobart hockey Class of 2018, led the Statesmen to an 80-23-11 four- year record, notching a program record for wins by a graduating class. This year’s seniors led the Statesmen to four straight conference tournament titles and four trips to the NCAA tournament.
The Admirals play their next game on Friday, March 16 against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at 7 p.m.
