WHEELING, W.Va. — Hobart College senior defenseman Jack Macnee recently signed with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity Jack has created for himself,” said Hobart Hockey Head Coach Mark Taylor. “He’s done everything he could for himself, whether it be in the classroom, in the weight room, or on the ice. He has done it with a full effort and complete character. I’m biased of course, but I feel Jack has a lot more growth in him with his hockey and expect him to have success at the next level”
An All-NEHC first team selection, Macnee tallied a career high 16 assists this season. He’s tied for fifth in the conference in defenseman scoring (0.61ppg). Macnee had a pair of assists in the NCAA Semifinal in a 5-3 loss to UW-Stevens Point. The senior captain also logged two assists in a 3-0 win over Potsdam and a 3-3 tie vs. UMass Boston. Macnee led the Statesmen defense in points with 17.
Macnee played in 104 games at Hobart and has recorded four goals and 31 assists for 35 points.
“My experience playing for this program over the past four years has been special,” said Macnee. “Coach Taylor always believed in the ability of each team to succeed and that is exemplified through what we have been able to accomplish. The culture of the program is truly something unique. It sounds cliché but it is really a brotherhood. The leaders during my years as an underclassman emphasized the importance of embracing and carrying along that culture and that is core to our success.”
The Nailers will play two home games this weekend on Friday at 7:05 against Fort Wayne, then Sunday at 3:05 against Kalamazoo. The Nailers are 29-29 overall this season.
