The Hobart College hockey team’s sophomore goalie Frank Oplinger (Sewickley, Pa.) was tabbed the ECAC Men’s West Goalie of the Week. Senior forward Sean Rudy (Long Sault, Ontario) was named to the honor roll.
Oplinger played all 120 minutes in Hobart’s wins over Curry and Salve Regina over the weekend. He posted a .951 save percentage, a 1.50 goals against average and a total of 58 saves. Against the Colonels he made 21 saves in a 4-2 triumph and against the Seahawks he stopped a season-high 37 shots in a 2-1 victory.
Oplinger has played in six games. He is sporting a .914 save percentage and a 2.25 goals against average as well as a 4-1-0 record.
Rudy scored the first two goals of the game for Hobart against Curry on Friday night. His goals came just 1:31 apart in the first period. Rudy has played in 16 games and has posted eight goals and three assists for 11 points this season.
The Statesmen will be back in action this weekend with two ECAC West games against Nazareth. On Friday, Jan. 22, game time is set for 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Jan. 23 the teams will square off at 4 p.m.
