BROOKLYN, NY- Utica College women’s hockey alumna Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School), class of 2017, has signed a professional contract with the Connecticut Whale of the NWHL.
In four seasons as a Pioneer, Goin compiled a record of 40-21-6 while earning a goals against average of 1.82 and a save percentage of .932. Goin graduated as the program’s career record holder in wins (40) and shutouts (13), and she also owns the single-season shutout record with seven. She had a career high of 55 saves against nationally ranked No. 1 Plattsburgh State, helping Utica pull out a 4-2 victory in 2016. Goin also led the Pioneers to a program-best 19 victories and an appearance in the ECAC West Championship game in her junior campaign.
Goin becomes the second player in program history to play professionally in North America as 2014 graduate and All-American, Megan Myers has played in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) for the last three seasons.
The Whale open up the 2017-18 campaign on Sunday, Oct. 15 as they host the Russian National team in an exhibition contest. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
