This event has beena rollercoaster ride. and it hasn’t even happened yet!
From the much-followed suspense of knowing whether or not the event would be authorised, to the adventures linked to the design of the course itself and to the extraordinary response ofthe mountain biking community who tried to enter the event the minuteregistration went live, Capital Punishment has already delivered lots of emotions! The much-anticipated 50/100km mountain bike enduro event linking all of Canberra’s best single trackfrom Sparrow Hill through to Stromlo Forest Park is definitely going to be acracker of an event with close to 2,000 super keen riders signing up for their share of Capital Punishment.
This is the first time anyone has been able to put this fantastic course together and while ithas taken some time and negotiation it is now set to proceed on Saturday 29 May2010. Some logging operations in Sparrow Hill will make this area off-limit for the first edition but it should be back for 2011. In the meantime, organisers have dug up some really interesting if less known single track sections in Kowen Forest to ensure the fun is maintained!
Without doubt thisis destined to be the biggest mountain bike enduro in the country. With the variety of terrain and tracks available in the Canberra region there will be people gathering in the Capital from all over Australia. This is the Tour de Canberra – the apex of Enduro MTB events.
For the riders whose legs might not carry them the whole way, there is a 50km option which should provide much enjoyment with less punishment!
There are a few entries still available but best be quick as the event will sell out soon. Event details and entries available on:www.capitalpunishmentmtb.com.au
