BROOKLYN (February 29, 2016) – The New York Islanders have acquired Shane Prince and a seventh-round pick in the 2016 National Hockey League Draft from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the team’s third-round pick in 2016.

Prince, 23, has 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 42 games this season with the Senators. In 2014-15, he led the Binghamton Senators in scoring with 65 points (28 goals, 37 assists) in 72 American Hockey League games.

The Senators selected Prince in the second round (61st overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. The Rochester, NY, native made his professional debut with Binghamton in 2012-13 and has totaled 148 career points (67 goals, 81 assists) in 206 AHL games.

Prince played four seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s and Kitchener Rangers. He posted junior career highs in 2011-12 with Ottawa, scoring 43 goals and 47 points in just 57 games.
