BROOKLYN – The New York Islanders announced today that Kevin Poulin has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.

Poulin, 25, posted a 2.87 goals-against average (GAA) with a .912 save percentage (SV%) in 45 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League last season. The Montreal, Quebec, native’s fifth professional season included an eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) from October 17 through November 14 and a start with the Islanders on December 27.

Selected in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2008 National Hockey League Draft, Poulin has played 50 career NHL regular season games, posting an 18-25-3 record with a 3.07 GAA and an .899 SV%. The 6’2, 192-pound netminder made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in 2013, stopping 14-of-15 shots for a 1.15 GAA and a .933 SV% in two games of relief in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Poulin has appeared in 156 career AHL games, all with the Sound Tigers, since making his professional debut in 2010-11. He has a 69-70-7-9 record (W-L-OTL-SOL) with eight shutouts.

Prior to playing professionally, Poulin spent four seasons with the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 169 QMJHL regular-season games, Poulin posted an 81-65-6 record. In 2009-10, Poulin led Victoriaville to an appearance in the league’s semi-finals while recording a 10-6 record in 16 playoff games. That season, the league named him to its second all-star team.
