The New York Islanders announced today that Ryan Strome has agreed to terms on a two-year deal.
Strome, 23, scored 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) in 71 games last season with the Islanders. The Mississauga, ON, native added four points (one goal, three assists) in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Islanders selected Strome in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2011 National Hockey Leaguue Draft. In 189 career games with the Islanders, Strome has 96 points (32 goals, 64 assists). He posted single-season career highs in goals (17), assists (33) and points (50) in 2014-15. Strome has also scored eight points (three goals, five assists) in 15 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
During his first professional season in 2013-14, Strome was named to the American Hockey League All-Star Game after tallying 49 points (13 goals, 36 assists) in just 37 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
On the international stage, Strome has represented Canada at the 2012 and 2013 World Junior Championships. He also played for Ontario at the 2010 World Hockey Challenge.
Strome played four seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Niagara IceDogs and Barrie Colts.
