BROOKLYN (March 29, 2017) – The New York Islanders will host Autism Awareness night on Friday, March 31 at Barclays Center when the team takes on the New Jersey Devils in honor of World Autism Day and Autism Awareness Month taking place in April. The players, coaches and members of the MSG telecast will all take part in raising awareness for the condition.
In support of the night, the following Autism Awareness elements will take place:
• Islanders players will wear Autism Awareness decals on the back of their helmets.
• Coaches and Broadcasters will wear Autism Awareness pins.
• The night will feature a ceremonial puck drop with six autistic children along with the Executive Director of Autism Speaks.
• Autism Speaks will have a table on the Barclays Center concourse to distribute information on their programming.
• Mack’s will be donating 100 sets of noise-cancelling ear plugs for families in attendance
• Barclays Center LED screens both inside and outside of the arena will have blue displays in honor of World Autism Day.
• Fans can purchase Special Autism/Islanders T-shirts for $20 on the concourse during the game with proceeds benefitting Autism Awareness.
• The National Autism Association, a Charity by Design partner of ALEX AND ANI, will have a featured table on the concourse.
