The Buffalo Jr. Sabres pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Georgetown Raiders on a clutch goal by Tim Kielich.
With the win, Buffalo avoided elimination to make the series score 3-3 in the best of seven series.
The Jr. Sabres overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Buffalo fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Georgetown’s Anthony Marra at 1:42 in the second period. The Jr. Sabres tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Brenden Dunning at 9:34 in the third period.
In the losing effort, the Raiders were paced by Marra, who had two goals. Marra scored the first of his two goals at 1:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Josh Dickinson provided the assist. Marra’s next tally made the score 3-1 Georgetown with 18:18 left in the second period. Steve Hladin picked up the assist.
Georgetown was unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Sabres eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Buffalo got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
Buffalo additionally got points from Michael Bevilacqua, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Dunning, who also registered one goal and one assist. Aiden Salerno also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Daniel Lafontaine, who had one.
Georgetown also got a goal from Brendan Jacome as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Gavin Shantz, Jordan Brown, and Scott Emerson, who contributed one each.
The Jr. Sabres’ Alex Connal stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Buffalo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jack LaFontaine made 33 saves for the Raiders on 37 shots. Georgetown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
