Buffalo Jr. Sabres 7, Orangeville Flyers 3
AMHERST- The Buffalo Jr. Sabres defeat the Orangeville Flyers by a score of 7-3. The Jr. Sabres win their fourth game of the season making their record 4-1-0.
The Orangeville Flyers opened the scoring early in the first period, only to be answered quickly by Nico Gonzalez (Rochester, NY) at 8:28 in the first period. Play in the first period was equal throughout the entire first period.
The second period was tilted slightly in favor of the Junior Sabres as they scored five times from five different players. Michael Ederer opened the second period with a goal assisted by Daniel Lafontaine and Max Mikowski.
Darren McCormick, Pat Eagen,(Power Play) Max Mikowski, and Josh Gabriel had the goals in the second. Daniel Lafontaine, the teams leading scorer, left the second period with an injury.
The third period saw a strong come back by Orangeville as they scored two quick goals before captain Ryan Schmelzer of Buffalo ended their hopes of getting back in the game. Buffalo goalie Joseph Pianta ended the night with 15 saves on 18 shots.
