The Georgetown Raiders survived a determined comeback attempt by the Buffalo Jr. Sabres on the way to a 3-2 win.
Georgetown made the score 3-1 on a goal by Arran MacDonald at 6:27 in the third period, and Buffalo got as close as 3-2 when David Baskerville scored 19:27 into the third period.
The Raiders were led by MacDonald, who racked up one goal.
Georgetown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Sabres to score on any of their five power plays.
Georgetown also got points from Daniel Hardie, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Georgetown also got a goal from Matthew Cairns as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Matt Mercer, Jake Payette, Brendan Jacome, and Josh Dickinson, who each chipped in one.
Buffalo forced the Raiders goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.
Buffalo additionally got points from Christopher Berger, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Tim Nicksic, Brenden Dunning, and Zach Evancho, who contributed one each.
Georgetown’s Masters stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Raiders incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brian Kowalski recorded 27 saves for the Jr. Sabres. Buffalo incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
