A stellar performance between the pipes by Brian Kowalski helped the Buffalo Jr. Sabres defeat the Toronto Patriots Patriots, 4-1.
Buffalo was led by Joshua Biasillo, who grabbed one goal. Biasillo scored 8:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo. Dylan Seitz provided the assist.
The Jr. Sabres forced Toronto Patriots goalie Jacob Standen to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. Buffalo had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances.
Buffalo additionally got points from Christopher Berger, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Zach Evancho, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and David Baskerville, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Buffalo came via Aaron Reinig, who had two.
The Patriots’ offense rang up 34 shots on the Jr. Sabres’ net. Toronto Patriots could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 54 minutes in penalties during the game.
The Patriots were led by Michael Siddall, who scored the team’s only goal. Siddall scored on the power play 3:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Patriots. Toronto Patriots had gained a power play chance when Bryce Ferrell was whistled for checking from behind. Nicholas Ursitti assisted on the tally.
