Jr. Sabres Lose to St. Michaels Buzzers

The St. Michaels Buzzers relied on the sparkling performance of George Argiropoulos in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

Scott Teskey had a great game for St. Michaels, netting two goals. Teskey found the back of the net 19:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels and again while on the power play 10:52 into the third to make the score 4-1 St. Michaels.

The Buzzers stifled Buffalo’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Michaels kept the Jr. Sabres’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Nate Skidmore made 29 saves on 33 shots.

St. Michaels also had goals scored by Cameron Searles and Troy Oakley, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Joseph Berton, who had two and Luca Doctor, Matt Pepler, A.J. Dorazio, Bron Loiselle, Cameron Wright, and Ryan Kruss, who contributed one each.

Buffalo could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Jr. Sabres average 3.2 goals per game. The Buzzers were unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Sabres eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Buffalo was led by Brenden Dunning, who scored the team’s only goal. Dunning scored 11:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Daniel Lafontaine picked up the assist.

St. Michaels’ Argiropoulos stopped 33 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Buzzers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Michaels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Thomas Beretta was ejected from the game. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
