The Buffalo Junior Sabres continue to win at home with another victory over the Burlington Cougars. Buffalo’s goaltender Brandon Mueller posted the teams first shut out of the season in stopping all 25 shots he faced.
The first period was dominated by Buffalo although the shots were just about equal as the Jr. Sabres had 11 and Burlington had 10. The difference came when Nolan Sheeran scored for Buffalo on the power play. The goal turned out to be the eventual game winner and was assisted by Pat Egan and Nick DeSimone.
The second period seemed to be continuation of the first, Buffalo dominated the play and puck possession. The Jr. Sabres put 14 shots on goal compared to Burlington’s 6. Buffalo made the score 2-0 after captain Ryan Schmelzer scored with the assist coming from Pat Egan and Ben Casale.
In the third period the Jr. Sabres came out firing yet again, but doing more work on the scoreboard as they added two more to the total. The first coming from Nick Smith assisted by David Hopfer, and the other coming from Nolan Sheeran, with his second of the night, assisted by Nico Gonzalez.
The Junior Sabres improve their record to 7-2-2 with the win. The next game isWednesday October 16 vs Milton at the Northtown Center at Amherst.
