Junior Sabres Win Home Opener

AMHERST – Michael Ederer (Lancaster, NY) scored a hat trick as the Buffalo Jr. Sabres won their home opener Monday night, defeating the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, 8-4, at the Northtown Center at Amherst.
Daniel Lafontaine (Lloyd Harbor, NY) opened the scoring in the first period with his second goal of the season unassisted. He then assisted on Ederer’s first goal as did Max Mikowski (Fredonia, NY).
Darren McCormick (West Seneca, NY) scored twice for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, while Nolan Sheeran (East Amherst, NY) and Pat Egan (Rochester NY) provided Buffalo’s other goals.
Joseph Pianta (Woodbridge, ON) stopped 19 shots to earn his second straight win.
The Jr. Sabres (2-0) next host the Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Wednesday at the Northtown Center, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
