Kenins And Zalewski Reassigned To The Comets

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has reassigned Ronalds Kenins and Mike Zalewski to the AHL Utica Comets.

Kenins, 25, has recorded 21 points (4-17-21) in 38 games with the Comets this season. He also appeared in eight games with the Canucks.

He split the 2014-15 season between Vancouver and Utica. Kenins appeared in 30 games with the Canucks in his first NHL season, registering 12 points (4-8-12) and eight penalty minutes. In 36 games with the Comets in 2014.15, Kenins recorded 12 points (5-7-12) and 23 penalty minutes. He also made his NHL post-season debut in 2014.15, registering two points (1-1-2) in five playoff games.

The 6’0”, 216-pound native of Riga, Latvia, was signed as a free agent by Vancouver on July 30, 2013.

Zalewski, 23, recorded 30 points (14-16-30) in 55 games with the Utica Comets this season, ranking tied for third in goals scored. He also appeared in three games for the Canucks this year, collecting one assist.

The New Hartford, New York native made his NHL debut on April 12, 2014 at Edmonton and registered his first NHL point (assist) the following night versus Calgary.

Prior to making his professional debut in 2014, the 6’2”, 205-pound forward spent two seasons with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Engineers. In 71 career NCAA games, the New Hartford, New York, native compiled 47 points (21-26-47) and 75 penalty minutes.
