The Western New York Girl’s Varsity Ice Hockey Section VI Championship game will be played Wednesday, February 6 at 8 p.m. at the Amherst Northtowns Arena.
Kenmore will take on Williamsville vying for a trip to the New York State Girl’s Varsity Ice Hockey Championship to be held in Canton this weekend (Feb. 8 & 9).
Williamsville has 25 point on the season and Kenmore follows closely with 24. Monsignor Martin is first with 34, but as a private school they are not eligible for State Championship play.
This season’s games in the league have been high-action, fast and show a lot of experience since the league’s beginning three years ago.
Williamsville Goalie Theresa Meosky has a 10 wins, 6 loss record and carries a .915 save percentage. Down the ice in goal for Kenmore, Lauren Pray has a 6 win, 3 loss record and carries a .952 save percentage.
On the scoring side, the top scorer in the league plays for West Seneca with 37 goals and 20 assists for 57 points.
For this match-up the scoring comes from Kenmore’s Emily King with 9 goals and 9 assists on the season along with Williamsville’s Sarah Scolnick and Kenmore’s Lina Mirabelli, each with 16 points on the season.
The WNY Girl’s Ice Hockey Federation playoffs begin next week with game 1 at 6 p.m. on February 11. All games will be played at the Northtowns Center, Amherst.
