No. 1 Plattsburgh Skates Past Buffalo State Women’s Hockey, 7-0

BUFFALO, NY—Defending national champion and current No. 1-ranked Plattsburgh (9-0-2/6-0-0) extended its unbeaten streak to 22 games as it skated past host Buffalo State (5-4-2/5-2-0) 7-0 in an ECAC West victory tonight at the Ice Arena.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes.  After a scoreless middle frame, Plattsburgh lit the lamp three more times in the final period.  The line of Melissa Sheeran, Kayla Meneghin and Giovanna Senese controlled the game all night.  Sheeran finished with three goals and two assists, while Meneghin tallied two goals and three assists, and Senese chipped in a pair of helpers.  Brett Campbell and Jordan Lipson also scored for the Cardinals.

Plattsburgh finished with a 35-9 advantage in shots, including a 28-5 margin in the first two periods.  Justine Silva (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) finished with 28 saves in the complete-game effort in goal for Buffalo State.  The Bengals successfully killed off all four Plattsburgh power play opportunities, but were unable to convert on their two attempts with the extra attacker.
