ERIE, Pa.—Four Orange earned spots on the All-College Hockey America team, the conference announcedThursday night at the CHA Tournament banquet. Sophomore defenseman Nicole Renault earned first team honors, sophomore forward Melissa Piacentini was named to the second team and freshmen Jessica Sibley (forward) and Larissa Martyniuk (defenseman) were voted to the rookie team.
Piacentini leads the team in points with 29, the fifth-most in a season of any SU skater. She has scored 17 goals this season, two shy of the Syracuse season record. In just two years, Piacentini has already reached eighth on the Orange all-time point scoring list, seventh in career goals with 52 and 26, respectively. Overall, her season point total is the ninth-most in the conference.
Renault leads all CHA defensemen with 28 points this year including 21 assists, the third-most of any SU skater in a single season. She has already cracked the top 10 on the SU career assists list with 32 (ninth) and in assists per game (fifth), averaging 0.44 in her career. Overall she ranks 10th in point scoring in the
conference.
Sibley has the second-most points in the conference among rookies with 26 including 12 goals, the second-most on the team. She has had two three-point games already in her career and has already earned a spot on the Syracuse career goals list. She has scored six power play goals, which ranks third in College Hockey America and ranks 12th overall in point scoring.
Martyniuk is among the best defensemen in the conference in addition to being one of the best freshmen. She currently has the fifth-most points among CHA defenders with 16 and the third-most among rookies. She has recorded 12 assists and four goals, 10 of which came on the power play.
The Orange continue post-season play on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. when the team faces No. 8 Mercyhurst in the CHA semifinal round.
